A young child on the way to a birthday party cried when he looked up at the clock and realized that he was going to be late.On that day,the clock was running about two hours fast,and the child,in fact,was in perfect time for the party.The child just thought he was late,because who would ever doubt (怀疑) the time on a public clock?
And then there was a wrong wedding (婚礼) time.A groom (新郎),on the way to his wedding ceremony (典礼),thought that he was two hours early,but when he showed up to the ceremony two hours late,the bride (新娘) and everyone else had waited for him for two hours.
“Please repair the clock above the door of your bank,” many unhappy people told the bank manager.
The bank manager,a kind young woman,promised that she would do whatever she could to find a person to repair the clock.She even took the clock to some skilled watchmakers.
After the clock was repaired and started working again,everyone reset (调整)their watches and went on their way.
