People travel for a lot of reasons.Some tourists go to see battlefields or other historic remains.Others are looking for culture,or simply want to have their pictures taken in front of famous places.Most Eupropean tourists are lookinf for a sunny beach to lie on.
Northern Europeans are willing to pay a lot of money for the sun because they so little of it.People of cities like London,Copenhagen and Amsterdan spend much of their winter in the dark because the days are so short,and much of the rest of the year in the rain.This is the reason why the Mediterranean has always attracted them.Every summer many people travel to Mediterranean resorts and beaches for their vacation.They all come for the reason:sun!
The huge crowds mean lots of money for the economics of Mediterranean countries.Italy's 30,000hotels are booked without a break every summer.And 13 million people camp out on French beaches,parks,and roadsides.Spain's long sandy coastline attracts more people than anywhere else.37 million tourists visit there yearly,or one tourist for each person living in Spain.
But there are signs that the area is getting more tourism than it can deal with.The Mediterranean is already one of the most polluted seas on earth.None of these,however,is ruinning anyong's fun.Obviously,they don't go there for clean water.They don't even mind the pollution.No matter how dirty the water is,the coastline still looks beautiful.And as long as the sun shines,it's still better than sitting in the cold rain in Berlin,London,or Oslo.

There are some special traditions in Hawaii.People are very friendly and always welcome visitors.They give visitors a lei,a long necklace of beautiful fresh flowers.Men wear bright flowered shirts,and women wear long flowered dresses.There are tradition Chinese,Japenese and Filipino holidays and all the holidays from the United States.They call Hawaii the Aloha State.Aloha means both hello and goodbye.It also means I love you.
Usually when people form different countries,races and trakitions live together,there are serious problems.There are a few problems in Hawaii,but,in general,people have to learn to live together in place.
Hawaiians get most of their money from visitors,and most of the visitors come from the mainland and from Japan.There are so many people living in Hawaii now that there are residential areas where there used to be farms.Some of the big sugar and apple companies have moved to the Philippines,where they do not have to pay workers as much money.THe families of the first people who came from the U.S.mainland own the important banks and companies.Japanese are also buying or starting business.

It seems hard to believe that I have been here in Singapore for two weeks now.And what a wonderful fortnight it has been!Needless to say,Jane and her family are partly the reason my stay here has been such an enjoyable one.They made me feel really comfortable the moment I stepped into their flat in Bishan.
Singapore has much to offer and I have done quite a lot of things since I arrived.I have been to most of the places of interest-Sentosa,the Jurong BirdPark,the Singapore Zoological Gardens and Fort Canning Hill,to name a few.Just yesterday,Jane took me to Singapore's very own Chinatown and we literally rode down memory lane in a three-wheel vehicle known as a trishaw with a young tourist guide at the helm.It was quite a novel experience exploring Singapore's past and present in this way.Besides sightseeing,eating is the other activity I have been indulging in.Being a cosmopolitan city,Singapore is a food paradise,and it comes as no surprise that Singaporeans love to eat.I am gradually a taste for fiery chillies,thanks to the hot and spicy dishes widely available here.You would never believe the fare you can savour over here.Scattered around every housing estate are hawker centres,open-air food places which are busy from morning till night.Shopping-wise,I have bought a vew things from Suntec City,Singapore's largest one-stop shopping centre near Orchard Road.
