Airport runways must be constantly swept constantly clear of trash and other debris that could be sucked into a jet-engine (intake or it could cause a serious accident.)

(B) intake,this causes a serious accident
(C) intake and cause a serious accident
(D) intake,preventing a serious accident
(E) intake and avoiding a serious accident
但我选的是d.
其实我可以理解c的意思,也没觉得有错.但是d哪儿错了呀?
有人说逻辑意思不对.那我可以理解成 svo,doing 的形式,然后理解为 机场被常清理,来阻止严重事故

你多打了一个constantly吧?
既然你明白为啥C是对的,那就只说说D错在哪；
D有两个问题：
改变了原句意思；原句中谈论的是trash and other debris可能造成严重事故,而D说的是清理掉它们能防止事故发生；虽然大意正确,但还是扭曲了原句意思,不妥当.如果这种解释不能让你信服,那么第二个错误就是硬伤了：
SAT语法中常出现这种错误——现在分词表伴随的错误用法；遇到这种用法一定要特别留意!preventing a serious accident 在本句中修饰 airport runways,但是很明显airport runways并不能防止事故发生；我们在读这个句子时很容易认为preventing a serious accident修饰前面一整句（即清理掉trash and other debris能防止事故发生）,但是一定注意：现在分词表伴随只能修饰一个词语或短语,不能修饰整个句子.

“瓢虫”能不能“致使果农认为它们是益虫”呢？当然可以！所以你举的例子是对的；
但是原句：“airport runways”能不能“prevent a serious accident“呢？当然不能，所以D是错的；
